World-Class Golf Returns to Durban

This year, the Investec SA Open Championship, one of the world’s oldest national open tournaments – makes its long-awaited return to Durban with Jonsson Workwear as the Official Workwear Partner. 

The tournament is set to take place at the newly revamped Durban Country Club from 27 February to 2 March 2025. The globally televised four-day event will feature an elite field of over 150 professional golfers, including past champions, all competing for a prize purse of $1.5 million. 

Behind the scenes, a dedicated workforce outfitted in Jonsson Workwear will set the stage. Equipped with hardworking garments purpose-built for their respective roles, they’ll make certain every detail is executed to perfection. Interesting facts about the Investec SA Open: 
 
• Established in 1903, the Investec SA Open is one of the world's oldest national golf championships. 

• Golf legend Gary Player holds the record for the most victories at the South African Open, with 13 titles spanning from 1956 to 1981.  

• Bobby Locke, one of South Africa's golfing greats, secured his first SA Open title at the age of 17 and went on to win the championship nine times.  

• Ernie Els, affectionately known as ‘The Big Easy’, has claimed the SA Open title five times. 

• The 2025 championship marks the tournament's return to Durban Country Club for the first time since 2010 when Ernie Els clinched his fifth SA Open title.  

• In 2023, Dean Burmester achieved consecutive victories, winning the Investec South African Open Championship shortly after his previous week's triumph at the Joburg Open.  

• The South African Open was first played at Durban Country Club in 1924, with Bertie Elkin winning the tournament. Since then, the club has hosted the championship a record 17 times.
