Make your footwear go further with our footwear maintenance guide. With the right care, you can keep your shoes going further, for longer.
Your Jonsson Workwear leather boots and leather shoes are best maintained with regular polishing. Your trainers such as the Flex Defend Safety Trainer, AT18+ and JW258 can be wiped down with a damp cloth, or you can use a mild soap solution to remove tough stains. Follow the tips below to keep your shoes in the best shape for longer.
Essential Footwear Care

Always wear socks with your boots and shoes.
Socks not only absorb sweat and prevent foot odour, they also help protect the inside of the shoe from wear and tear. Keep your socks fresh, odour- and bacteria-free by washing them after every wear.

Undo your laces before removing your shoes.
Continually squeezing your foot in and out of your untied shoe will weaken and damage the heel counter.

Never use direct heat to dry leather shoes.
Using heat sources such as a heater or a hairdryer will cause leather to become brittle. Let your leather shoes air dry naturally in a well-ventilated space, and ensure you keep them nourished with your choice of leather protector.

Remove the innersole and shake out any loose debris
Sand and small stones can rub against, and wear down, the lining of your shoe. Shake it out to help your shoes last longer. To clean your innersoles, gently hand wash with a lukewarm, mild soapy solution, rinse them thoroughly and leave them to air dry.

Dust off any dust and muck with a damp cloth
Dirt can be abrasive and can damage your shoes over time. Brushing it off helps extend the lifespan of your footwear.

Clean the sole’s tread with a scrubbing brush
Caked-on mud can crack the soles of your shoes, accelerating wear and tear. Regularly clearing the tread helps keep your shoes in good condition. .
