A MESSAGE FROM NICK JONSSON

Thursday, 19 March 2020

Our business has always been driven by a non-negotiable set of values, one of them being “to do the right thing.” Now, more than ever, is this absolutely critical. The Covid-19 pandemic has taken hold of the world and we are all responsible for doing whatever we can to slow its devastating progression; and to try and protect our almost 5,000 people in four countries, our customers, our suppliers, our service providers and ultimately our business, during these uncertain times.

We have taken expert advice, listened to what President Ramaphosa asked of us on Sunday evening, and are carefully following the guidelines set out by the World Health Organisation. To this end, we have over the past fortnight made many  important changes to our normal business procedures which include measures, such as prohibiting visitors from entering any of our manufacturing facilities, our distribution centres or offices; banning all non-essential air travel, insisting that everyone entering any of our spaces, including our own people and customers in our retail stores, use the hand sanitizers provided; improving and enhancing the already strict cleaning regimen in all facilities, halted all outbound sales staff from physically visiting customers but rather dealing with them by video conference or telephonically, and from Monday 23rd March we will have more than half of our office based staff working remotely, mostly from home.

This is an evolving and fast-developing situation, and we will need to be flexible in our approach. It is difficult to predict how long this will go on, and there is obviously a great deal of anxiety amongst many people, but our priorities to protect our people and serve our customers are clear.

I would like to reassure you that we are open for business. We are doing everything possible to ensure that our customers are not inconvenienced in any way by any of the measures we have taken. In fact, these crises bring a new energy to finding an innovative new approach to many dilemmas.

To our retail customers that cannot visit our stores at the moment, we would be happy to serve you remotely. So please visit www.jonssonworkwear.com or www.trappers.co.za or call us or email us and we will be able look after you.

We recognise that these are challenging times, but I want you to know that we are acting responsibly and are committed members of all the communities in which we operate.

Thank you for your support, look after yourselves, keep safe, and we will get through this together.
